Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed support for a report from the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The report confirms that Israel, as the occupying power, has committed genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the OIC General Secretariat is urging the international community to take swift action to halt the genocide and ensure accountability for those responsible. Additionally, the OIC General Secretariat condemned the increased hostilities by Israeli occupation forces, including a ground invasion of Gaza City, and the ongoing abuse and forced displacement of residents. The organization views these actions as extensions of genocide and warns of severe consequences for the occupied Palestinian Territory if they continue.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has reiterated its appeal to the UN Security Council to enforce an immediate ceasefire, halt Israel's blockade and starvation policy, facilitate humanitarian aid access throughout Gaza, and take steps to prevent further genocide. They also emphasize the need to implement the provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice in 2024.
