Al-buqei'a: Israeli occupation forces today issued military orders to seize dozens of dunums of Palestinian-owned land in the al-Buqei'a area of the Northern Jordan Valley. The move has sparked concerns among local Palestinian communities who are set to lose their agricultural lands.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Mutaz Bisharat, the official responsible for colonial settlement affairs in Tubas Governorate, revealed that the occupation issued orders to seize 268 dunums of privately owned land. The land in question belongs to Palestinian residents of Tubas city and the town of Tammoun, further exacerbating tensions in the region.
Bisharat also highlighted that this is not an isolated incident. At the end of last year, the occupation authorities issued military orders to seize 1,042 dunums in the Atouf Plain, which is also within the al-Buqei'a area. This pattern of land seizure has raised alarms about the future of Palestinian agricultural and residential lands in the Northern Jordan Valley.
