Occupation Forces Detain Head of Tubas Municipality’s Steering Committee

Tubas: Israeli occupation forces detained Fawaz Anbousi, head of the Tubas Municipality's steering committee, on Tuesday evening. Local sources revealed that the forces raided Anbousi's home during an incursion into the city of Tubas, vandalizing his furniture and belongings before detaining him.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Israeli occupation forces also raided several areas in the Tubas Governorate. The forces stormed the city of Tubas, the town of Tammoun, and the vicinity of the al-Far'a refugee camp with a number of military vehicles, conducting raids on several homes.

The Tubas Municipality condemned the detention of its steering committee head, Fawaz Anbousi, following the raid on his home and the destruction of its contents. The municipality described the incident as a flagrant violation of international laws and norms, and a clear targeting of national leaders and civil institutions dedicated to serving the community and bolstering resilience amid challenging circumstances.

The Tubas Municipality emphasized that these actions will not deter it from its national and humanitarian responsibilities towards the city's residents. Instead, they reaffirmed their commitment to continue serving citizens and enhancing their steadfastness.

The municipality also urged local and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to halt these repeated violations and to work towards providing protection for Palestinian civilians and institutions.
