According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Israeli navy detained five fishermen, all residents of Gaza City, including two siblings. The detentions are part of a pattern where the navy allegedly targets fishermen in the Gaza sea daily, leading to repeated arrests.
The sources further indicate that since October 7, 2023, the Israeli navy has imposed a blockade that prevents fishermen from pursuing their livelihood. This blockade has significantly reduced the number of active fishermen and led to the destruction of all fishing boats. Consequently, fishermen are compelled to operate under perilous conditions to provide for their families.
