Bethlehem: Israeli occupation forces today demolished a house under construction in the village of Artas, located south of Bethlehem. The demolition was carried out under the pretext that the house was being built without an Israeli-issued permit, as reported by a local official.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Samir Abu Sweih, a member of the Artas Village Council, stated that an Israeli army unit, accompanied by three bulldozers, stormed the Jabal Abu Zaid area southeast of the village. The area was completely sealed off, preventing residents from reaching it as the demolition took place.
The structure that was demolished consisted of foundations, pillars, and a single room, and belonged to a local resident. In addition to the demolition, the forces bulldozed land in the area and demolished a cement wall surrounding the land of another resident.
Abu Sweih noted that Israeli forces had previously issued several demolition and stop-work orders against homes in the Jabal Abu Zeid area, indicating ongoing tensions and disputes over building permits in the region.
