Post: Occupation Authorities Close Ibrahimi Mosque Amid Jewish Holidays Controversy

Hebron:The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs has reported that Israeli occupation authorities have decided to close the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron to Muslim worshippers and visitors. This closure, which spans from after Friday prayers until Saturday night, is justified by the authorities under the pretext of Jewish holidays, enabling colonists to access the site.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the ministry has issued a statement condemning this action as a violation of religious freedom and an infringement on the sanctity of the Ibrahimi Mosque, which is considered an exclusively Islamic endowment. The closure prevents worshippers and Awqaf employees from entering the mosque and bans the call to prayer, which is seen as an attempt to impose a temporal and spatial division on the site.

The ministry highlighted that these systematic violations and the increased restrictions in the Old City are part of a broader policy aimed at Judaizing holy sites. It has called on international and human rights organizations to urgently intervene and exert pressure on the occupation authorities to stop these actions and safeguard Islamic holy sites.
