Nablus: Nicaragua's Ambassador to Palestine, Gadiel Mairena, stressed the urgent need to halt what he described as genocide and a starvation war in the Gaza Strip. He reaffirmed the solidarity of the Nicaraguan people and government with the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, emphasizing Nicaragua's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause until freedom, sovereignty, and independence are achieved.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Mairena made these remarks during his visit to the Palestine Liberation Organization's Expatriates Affairs Department. During the visit, he met with the Director General of the Department, Hussein Abdel Khaleq, and the Department's Advisor and Head of Latin America, Mai Al-Kaila. The Ambassador was updated on the latest developments concerning the ongoing conflict, which has resulted in a significant loss of life and widespread destruction in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
Discussions during the meeting also covered the persistent and escalating Israeli actions in the West Bank, including increasing attacks against Palestinians and their property by colonists, as well as moves by the Israeli government to assert sovereignty over the region. The Palestinian representatives highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Palestine and Nicaragua, expressing gratitude for Nicaragua's steadfast political support, led by President Daniel Ortega, in international forums for Palestinian rights to freedom and self-determination.
