The Iraqi National Security Service announced the dismantling of an extortion and fraud network in Maysan Governorate. The Service stated in a statement: "Based on confirmed intelligence information, the National Security Service detachments in Maysan Governorate were able, after obtaining judicial approvals, to overthrow a network that practices extortion to obtain tenders for government projects announced by the local government in the governorate and sell them illegally." He added: "The network consists of 7 individuals, including government employees, indicating that the accused were referred to the competent judicial authorities after recording their statements to receive their just punishment.
