Ramallah: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has condemned the recent raid by Israeli occupation forces on Birzeit University, which resulted in the main gate being smashed and the use of live ammunition, sound bombs, and tear gas against students and the university community. These actions led to several student injuries, including those caused by live bullets.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Ministry stated that such attacks are a blatant violation of international norms and conventions that protect universities and educational institutions. The Ministry emphasized that these actions will not deter the resolve of these national institutions, their students, or their staff, as they remain dedicated to the mission of knowledge and learning.
The Ministry reiterated its appeal to the International Association of Universities, the Association of Arab Universities, and all international, human rights, and media organizations to expose and take a strong stance against these ongoing violations targeting Palestinian higher education.
