Amman: The Ministry of Health announced an upcoming inspection campaign in September to monitor and enforce compliance with the Public Health Law, specifically targeting smoking bans in public spaces across Amman. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry emphasized that the campaign will focus on enforcing Public Health Law No. 47 of 2008, along with its amendments and related regulations. This initiative aligns with royal directives aimed at ensuring the strict implementation of laws that protect public health, as part of the national strategy to combat tobacco use. The inspection campaign will specifically target the enforcement of Chapter Twelve of the Public Health Law, which is dedicated to protecting public spaces from the harms of smoking. The ministry aims to ensure adherence to the smoking ban in closed public areas and to verify that facilities comply with public safety procedures to create a smoke-free environment. The campaign will also involve the enforcement of "Regulation of the Dis play of Tobacco Products System No. 73 of 2013" and related instructions issued in 2015. Ministry teams, including anti-smoking liaison officers, will conduct inspection visits to both governmental and non-governmental institutions, as well as economic and tourist facilities. This effort is part of a broader executive action plan to implement the national strategy for combating tobacco use in all its forms, thereby safeguarding public health. Source: Jordan News Agency
