“Malnutrition Rates in Gaza Have Reached Alarming Levels”: WHO

Gaza city: The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the WHO issued a statement on Sunday highlighting that malnutrition is on a dangerous trajectory in Gaza, with a noticeable increase in deaths this month. The organization reported that most deaths due to malnutrition occurred before or shortly after individuals arrived at hospitals, with bodies found to be extremely emaciated.

The WHO attributed the high mortality rates to the deliberate blockade of Gaza and delays in aid, which have exacerbated the situation. The statement further noted that nearly one in five children under the age of five in Gaza City is suffering from severe malnutrition.
