Macron Warns Gaza Humanitarian Catastrophe Unacceptable, Famine a Direct Result of Israeli Blockade

Toulon: French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed that the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip is unacceptable, stressing that the famine declared by the United Nations is a direct consequence of Israel's obstruction of humanitarian aid to the Strip.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Macron's remarks came during a joint French-German cabinet meeting in Toulon, southern France, with the participation of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Macron underscored that he discussed the situation in the Middle East with Merz, saying, "I want to say that the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip is unacceptable."

He added, "The situation declared by the United Nations as a famine is a direct result of the obstruction of humanitarian aid to Gaza."

He emphasized that ending Israeli attacks, allowing the delivery of humanitarian aid, and holding negotiations involving all parties are essential to achieving peace. Additionally, "Along with an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians can only be achieved within the framework of a two-state solution."
