London: French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday called for a joint recognition of the State of Palestine by France and the United Kingdom, describing it as "the only path that leads to a prospect of peace."
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Macron made these remarks during a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London, where he emphasized the urgency of advancing a two-state solution. Macron expressed his belief in the future of the two-state solution, underscoring the necessity of unifying voices from Paris, London, and beyond to recognize the State of Palestine. He stressed that such recognition would initiate a political dynamic essential for achieving peace.
Prime Minister Starmer, on his part, reaffirmed the UK's commitment to reaching a just political settlement concerning the Palestinian issue. He highlighted the importance of international support for the Palestinian people and the need to ensure comprehensive peace and stability in the region.
The remarks from both leaders came at the conclusion of President Macron's three-day state visit to the United Kingdom. The visit included a bilateral summit that focused on strategic issues, including Franco-British relations, European security, military cooperation, and key regional and international developments.
