Jerusalem: The Palestinian Lands Authority condemned the Israeli occupation forces' raid on the land settlement office in Beit Sira village, west of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, highlighting the damage and destruction inflicted upon its contents and facilities. The raid was described as a new attack targeting Palestinian national institutions and efforts to protect citizens' land and property rights.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the authority stated that the raid is part of ongoing Israeli policies targeting Palestinian land and national institutions. These actions are perceived as attempts to obstruct land settlement and registration processes, which are designed to uphold real estate rights and protect Palestinian ownership under applicable legal frameworks.
The authority emphasized that targeting land settlement offices constitutes a direct assault on efforts to organize property rights and is a violation of international laws and conventions that guarantee protection for civilian institutions and their workers.
Minister of Lands Authority, Ala' al-Tamimi, reported that technical teams have begun assessing the damage. He assured that operations at the Beit Sira office would continue despite the attack, affirming the authority's commitment to providing services and continuing land settlement work. Al-Tamimi stressed that the attack would not deter the authority from proceeding with settlement projects across all governorates, emphasizing the resilience of the offices in maintaining their work amidst challenges imposed by occupation measures.
A delegation of senior officials visited the office to assess damages and ensure the continuity of services. The Palestinian police have documented the incident and are undertaking necessary procedures in response.
The authority has called on the international community and human rights organizations to assume responsibility regarding the ongoing violations against Palestinian land and institutions and to work towards halting these attacks and holding the occupation accountable.
