Gaza city: Israeli strikes on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of three civilians and injuries to several others in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, west of Gaza City.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, an Israeli airstrike targeted a tent sheltering displaced people near Ad-Dahyan School, leading to the fatalities and multiple injuries.
Further reports indicate that Israeli bombing also targeted a displacement center in the west of the city, causing dozens of casualties who were subsequently transported to the Arab Ahli Hospital for medical treatment. Additionally, an Israeli bombing targeted Al-Majayda street in Khan Younes, leading to the death of another civilian.
The escalation follows Israel's unilateral decision to end the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resume military actions on Tuesday, March 18. This resumption has resulted in a significant wave of airstrikes throughout the Strip, with hundreds of Palestinians reported dead. The current death toll stands at least 6,454, with 22,551 others wounded, as reported by medical sources. Within the last 24 hours alone, 142 bodies, including three retrieved from the rubble, and 487 casualties have been admitted to Gaza hospitals.
Since the onset of the military operations in October 2023, Israel's actions have led to the deaths of 57,012 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and injuries to 134,592 others. Additionally, over 10,000 people remain unaccounted for, presumed to be trapped under the destruction of their homes across the Strip.
The ongoing aggression has also triggered the forced displacement of nearly two million people from the Gaza Strip. The majority of the displaced population has been pushed into the densely populated southern city of Rafah, near the border with Egypt. This has become the largest mass exodus in Palestine since the 1948 Nakba.
