Gaza city: An Israeli strike on Monday evening resulted in the death of a Palestinian in the Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, an Israeli combat drone targeted a Palestinian civilian in the area, leading to his death.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions as Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed its military operations on Tuesday, March 18. This escalation has involved a series of airstrikes that have caused significant casualties, with 12,785 Palestinians killed and 54,754 others injured.
In the last 24 hours alone, Gaza hospitals have received the bodies of 61 Palestinians and treated 220 injured individuals. Since October 2023, the ongoing military actions have claimed the lives of 65,344 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and injured 166,795 others.
Additionally, over 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, feared to be buried under the rubble of destroyed homes. The conflict has also triggered the displacement of nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip. Most of these displaced persons have been forced into Rafah, a heavily populated city near the Egyptian border, marking the largest mass displacement in Palestine since the 1948 Nakba.
