Israeli Shelling in Southern Gaza Strip Results in At Least 12 Civilian Deaths

Gaza City: At least 12 Palestinian civilians were killed and dozens injured in Israeli shelling targeting the southern Gaza Strip areas of Khan Yunis and Rafah on Saturday.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, local sources reported that Israeli warplanes launched an attack on the Mawasi area of Rafah city, resulting in the deaths of at least five people and injuries to 50 others. Additionally, an Israeli drone strike hit the home of the Al-Sharif family near Asdaa city, northwest of Khan Yunis, claiming the lives of five civilians.

Medical sources revealed that the death toll had risen to 21 since dawn on Saturday due to Israeli shelling impacting various locations throughout the Gaza Strip. The ongoing conflict since October 2023 has led to 53,822 documented Palestinian fatalities and over 122,382 injuries.

Thousands of victims are believed to be trapped under debris, unreachable by emergency and civil defense teams as a result of continuous Israeli assaults. Despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice to prevent genocide and alleviate the humanitarian crisis, Israel's attacks persist.
