Israeli Shelling in Gaza Leaves 23 Civilians Dead, Dozens Injured

Gaza City: At least 23 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured in the early hours of Saturday as Israeli forces intensified their bombardment of various areas across the Gaza Strip, with the heaviest strikes reported in the central region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, local sources indicated that Israeli troops opened live fire directly at civilians gathered near aid distribution points in central Gaza, resulting in 15 deaths and numerous injuries. Medical officials confirmed that five additional bodies arrived at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, including two individuals who succumbed to injuries from an airstrike on a tent near al-Khaldi Mosque. Simultaneously, artillery shelling hit the eastern al-Tuffah neighborhood.

In Khan Younis, reports indicated that a drone strike targeting a group of civilians near the Islamic University resulted in the deaths of three Palestinians. Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been conducting a campaign on Gaza, with ongoing conflict leading to more than 182,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, the majority being women and children, and over 11,000 still reported missing.
