Post: Israeli Forces Threaten Expanded Military Offensive in Hebron

Hebron:Israeli occupation forces have threatened to expand their military offensive in the city of Hebron, located south of the occupied West Bank. The city has been under siege for ten consecutive days, as reported by local sources.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the ongoing aggression has led to additional families being forced to vacate areas around Al-Quds Open University. Israeli forces have imposed movement restrictions on residents near the al-Jalda and Deir Bahha neighborhoods, heightening concerns that more residents could be displaced from their homes.

The Israeli forces have reinforced their presence in declared closed areas and announced, through statements and loudspeakers, the continuation of their military offensive in Hebron. Displaced families are worried that the forces might extend their operations in Palestinian neighborhoods beyond Shabbat Chayei Sarah, which is scheduled for next Saturday.

The offensive has significantly impacted over 3,300 Palestinians, particularly in the al-Jalda and Ain Deir Bahha areas, leading to the complete demolition of 15 homes and other structures. It has also resulted in economic losses, damage to infrastructure, and disruptions to education.

Figures from the Hebron Municipality indicate that 15 homes and other structures have been demolished, and 327 businesses have been closed due to the offensive, with direct daily economic losses exceeding 12 million shekels (approximately $3.8 million). Infrastructure losses are estimated at more than $1.9 million, while the health and environmental sectors have suffered losses of around $160,000. Additionally, the offensive has prevented about 80,000 students from attending school for the tenth consecutive day.
