Post: Israeli Forces Maintain Closure of Deir Istiya Entrance, Disrupting Local Movement

Salfit: Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued to close the main entrance to the town of Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit, for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday evening, obstructing the movement of citizens and vehicles, forcing them to take long, rugged detours.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, local sources reported that Israeli soldiers harassed a number of citizens while they were near the closed entrance to the town, detained some of them for periods, and checked their IDs.

This entrance is the only outlet to the towns of Deir Istiya, Haris, Kafl Haris, and Qira, after the IOF closed all secondary entrances and agricultural roads leading to them. This has exacerbated the suffering of residents and brought daily life in the area to a partial standstill.

Salfit has recently experienced a significant escalation in Israeli field measures, from road closures and checkpoints to intensified settler incursions and attacks against farmers and citizens.
