Israeli Forces Intensify Tulkarm Refugee Camp Evacuations Amid Ongoing Military Aggression

Tulkarm: Israeli occupation forces have ordered additional families to evacuate their homes in the Tulkarm refugee camp, as the military offensive on Tulkarm City and the surrounding area continues for the 86th straight day.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the forces have been extensively deployed across various neighborhoods of the city, including areas around al-Miga Circle and the vegetable market. Here, soldiers have been stopping civilians, checking their identification, and employing concussion grenades, which has led to the detention of a youth.

In the city's eastern neighborhood, families, notably the Assias and Abu al-Ghiyabs, have been forcibly removed from their homes at gunpoint, with orders preventing them from returning until 19:00. On Nablus street, soldiers stormed a local restaurant, detaining an employee from the nearby town of Bal'a, while also obstructing the street near the Tulkarm refugee camp with tires.

Israeli patrols have also been present in the Jabal An-Naser neighborhood of the refugee camp, where they have physically assaulted young men, with some being detained and taken to military barracks. The continued military actions have resulted in significant destruction of infrastructure and civilian properties, displacing thousands.

These operations follow the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners, coinciding with the enforcement of a Gaza ceasefire on January 19. The Israeli military has since increased security measures across the West Bank, isolating cities and governorates with military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks.

The military measures are reportedly in tandem with actions by Israeli colonists, who continue to target Palestinian areas in an effort to seize land and establish Jewish colonies. These closures and security actions are part of an ongoing effort to maintain the 58-year military occupation of the West Bank, which is enforced through routine and often deadly violence against Palestinians.
