Gaza: Israeli occupation forces have issued seven land seizure orders targeting 89.5 dunums of Palestinian land, indicating an uptick in military land appropriation activities.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported that the orders were aimed at constructing new security roads and buffer zones around colonies in the governorates of Ramallah, Jerusalem, and Nablus. These developments span a collective length of approximately 17.6 kilometers.
The Commission highlighted a shift in the application of land seizure orders, suggesting that what were once temporary measures linked to military needs have become tools for the long-term development of colonial infrastructure. The targeted roads are designed to connect colonies with their outposts, ensuring secure routes for colonists, enhancing security control, and facilitating future expansion.
The Commission further criticized the military justification used to legitimize these actions, pointing out that routes initially opened illegally by colonists are being formalized as military roads, thereby restricting Palestinian access to their lands and establishing buffer zones that solidify colonial presence.
