Israeli Forces Fire Tear Gas at Vehicle Near Ramallah

Gaza: Israeli occupation forces Thursday evening fired tear gas toward a Palestinian-registered vehicle at the entrance of Turmusayya town, northeast of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to eyewitnesses. They reported that the soldiers stationed at the checkpoint targeted a public vehicle with tear gas canisters, resulting in passengers experiencing excessive tear gas inhalation.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Israeli forces have intensified military measures across the occupied West Bank following the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. These actions include dismembering and isolating cities and governorates by employing military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks.

The Israeli military operations coincide with ongoing attacks by Israeli colonists throughout the West Bank. These attacks aim to intimidate Palestinians, displace them from their lands, and facilitate the construction of illegal Jewish colonies. These settlements further fragment Palestinian communities.

Israel implements severe restrictions on Palestinians' freedom of movement within the occupied West Bank through a network of approximately 500 fixed checkpoints, numerous flying checkpoints, settler-only roads, over 200 military bases, and various other physical obstructions.

These closures and other measures, justified under the pretext of security, are designed to reinforce Israel's 58-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project. The enforcement of this occupation often involves routine and sometimes deadly violence against Palestinians.
