Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces on Monday evening detained two Palestinians from the Old City of Jerusalem, according to local sources. They said that the occupying forces rounded up a woman and a minor from the vicinity of Jafa Gate (Bab al-Khalil).
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, in the predawn and morning hours of Monday, the occupying forces conducted multiple raids across the occupied West Bank, resulting in the detention of 28 Palestinians. In the Jericho governorate, soldiers detained a father and his 17-year-old son from the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp, as confirmed by Eid Barahmeh, an officer in the Palestine Prisoners' Society.
The sources confirmed a similar raid in Qalqilya City, resulting in the detention of three Palestinians. In the Ramallah governorate, soldiers detained three others, including a father and his son, from the village of Budrus. A similar raid in the town of Birzeit, north of Ramallah, led to the detention of five Palestinians, including a former prisoner, three of his brothers, and a nephew, with their houses ransacked.
The sources confirmed two separate raids in the town of Abu Qash and Beitunia city, resulting in the detention of three others, including a 16-year-old. In Bethlehem, soldiers conducted a search in the as-Saff neighborhood and detained an occupant.
Meanwhile, in Hebron City, four Palestinians were detained from various neighborhoods. In Bani Naim town, east of Hebron, three occupants were detained after soldiers searched several houses. A convoy of army vehicles also stormed Taffuh and Beit Awwa towns, leading to the detention of four others, including two brothers.
The occupation forces frequently conduct raids across the West Bank under the pretext of searching for 'wanted' Palestinians. These operations are carried out without search warrants, triggering clashes with residents. Under Israeli military law, army commanders have extensive authority over Palestinians living in the West Bank, who have no say in how this power is exercised.
