Salfit: Israeli occupation forces detained six Palestinians on Friday, including the mayor of Deir Istiya, while they were harvesting olives north of the town in the Salfit province, in the central West Bank, according to local sources. The sources stated that Israeli troops raided olive groves where farmers were working, forcibly stopping them from picking olives before detaining them, including the mayor of Deir Istiya, Abdul Rahim Zidan. The detained individuals were taken to an undisclosed location.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Israeli forces and colonists have increased their activities against farmers since the beginning of the olive harvest season. These activities include detentions, harassment, confiscation of equipment, and restrictions on access to groves located near settlements and outposts across the West Bank.
