Jerusalem: Israeli police detained an employee of the Islamic Waqf in the occupied city of Jerusalem on Monday evening. The Jerusalem Governorate reported the incident, identifying the detained individual as Hossam Sidr, who works in the Al-Aqsa Mosque Construction Department.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Islamic Waqf, responsible for administering Al-Aqsa and other Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, operates under Jordanian custodianship. This custodianship is affirmed through historical agreements and is recognized in the 1994 peace treaty between Israel and Jordan.
