Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces detained at least 40 Palestinians from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) reported that the detentions included a journalist from Ramallah, a young woman from Hebron, and several recently released prisoners. These actions were carried out in the governorates of Nablus, Hebron, Tubas, Tulkarm, Ramallah, and Qalqilya.
The PPS highlighted that the occupation forces have been escalating their detention and field interrogation operations at an accelerated pace since the beginning of this year. This escalation is described as unprecedented since the start of the genocide, targeting various segments of Palestinian society as part of a campaign of collective punishment.
Furthermore, the PPS emphasized that women are being systematically targeted through ongoing arrest campaigns. These campaigns include taking women as hostages, conducting night raids, and subjecting them to harsh interrogation methods. This is seen as a dangerous escalation, where the arrest of women is used as a tool of pressure and collective punishment.
The PPS noted that the occupation authorities continue to carry out daily detention campaigns against citizens. These campaigns are among the most prominent and systematic policies, with the number of arrests in the West Bank exceeding 22,000 cases since the start of the war of extermination.
