Israeli Forces Destroy Main Water Pipeline in Umm Safa Village

Ramallah: Israeli occupation forces on Friday destroyed a main water pipeline in the village of Umm Safa, located northwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Marwan Al-Sabbah, head of the Umm Safa village council, stated that the Israeli forces deliberately targeted the village's main water supply line while bulldozing the western entrance to the village. He indicated that this action is part of a broader policy against the residents of Umm Safa.

The destruction impacted approximately 15 meters of the pipeline, which is part of a 15-kilometer-long main water network that supplies the entire village. The damage has left all 1,000 residents of Umm Safa without access to water.

Al-Sabbah mentioned that the village council is in urgent contact with various authorities and institutions to coordinate the repair of the pipeline. However, reconstruction efforts are currently hindered by the closure of the village entrance by Israeli forces since October 7, 2023, making the entry of necessary equipment and machinery contingent on Israeli approval.
