Israeli Forces Continue Closure of Jerusalem’s Aqsa Mosque for 11th Day Amid Rising Tensions

Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces have maintained the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for the eleventh consecutive day, preventing Palestinian Muslim worshippers from performing prayers there under the pretext of security conditions linked to the ongoing conflict with Iran.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the prolonged closure during the last ten days of Ramadan is unprecedented, marking the first instance since the 1967 occupation of Jerusalem that Taraweeh prayers and Itikaf (seclusion for worship) have been prohibited inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Jerusalem Governorate has expressed concern over the rising incitement by extremist Temple Mount organizations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque amidst these ongoing closure measures. The Governorate underlined that the actions cannot be viewed as temporary security measures, as claimed by occupation authorities, but rather as part of a broader political and ideological agenda to alter the religious, historical, and legal status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
