Israeli Forces Close Salah al-Din Street in Gaza, Restrict Civilian Movement

Gaza: Israeli forces have announced the closure of Salah al-Din Street, a crucial thoroughfare connecting the north and south of the Gaza Strip, effectively restricting Palestinian civilians from traveling across it. The only permitted route for movement is Rashid Street.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, this development follows the Israeli army’s recent initiation of a limited ground offensive in the central and southern regions of the Gaza Strip. The closure of Salah al-Din Street has raised concerns, as reopening the Netzarim Corridor for displaced persons to return north was a pivotal part of a ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli occupation forces resumed their military actions in the Gaza Strip last Tuesday, marking an end to a two-month hiatus. This resurgence of conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 400 civilians, predominantly women and children, with hundreds more sustaining injuries. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is increasingly precarious, exacerbated by the ongoing blockade and interruptions to medical and humanitarian aid supplies.

Since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, 2023, the Israeli forces’ actions in Gaza have led to the deaths of more than 48,572 citizens, primarily women and children. Additionally, 112,032 individuals have been injured, with some victims still trapped beneath rubble.
