Israeli Forces Close Bab al-Amoud Gate Area in Jerusalem

Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces on Monday evening closed the Bab al-Amoud (Damascus Gate) area in occupied Jerusalem. The closure came amidst activities marking Iftar, during which young men and women were distributing meals to passersby as part of the daily fast-breaking during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that Israeli forces compelled shop owners in the Damascus Gate area to close their businesses. This action followed the distribution of meals, which is a significant activity during Ramadan, underscoring the cultural and religious practices of the local Muslim community.

In conjunction with these events, Israeli forces established a military checkpoint in the Wadi al-Rababa neighborhood of Silwan. This neighborhood is situated south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a location of religious and historical significance. The developments in these areas highlight the ongoing tensions and measures impacting daily life in occupied Jerusalem.
