Israeli Forces Block Palestinian Students from Reaching Schools Near Jerusalem

Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces barred multiple school students from crossing a checkpoint on Saturday, blocking their access to schools between the neighborhoods of Al-Sawahra Al-Gharbiya and Al-Sawahra Al-Sharqiya, east of occupied Jerusalem. The incident has sparked concerns among the local communities about the ongoing access issues faced by students in the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Jerusalem Governorate affirmed that the children aged between 7 and 15 were stopped at the Al-Shayah Checkpoint, under the pretext that their names were not listed. This blockade prevented the children from attending their schools located in Al-Sawahra Al-Sharqiya, thereby disrupting their education.

The residents have appealed to human rights organizations and institutions to pressure Israeli authorities to open the checkpoint. They hope to ensure that the children can join their classmates in the schools of Al-Sawahra Al-Sharqiya, emphasizing the importance of uninterrupted education for their development and future prospects.
