Israeli Forces Assault Ambulance Driver Near Jenin

Jenin: Israeli occupation forces (IOF) attacked an ambulance driver on Sunday as he passed through the Dotan checkpoint, southeast of Barta'a town. The driver was assaulted while transporting a cancer patient, resulting in a fracture in his left hand and an eye injury.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Barta'a Municipality reported that the attacked ambulance was well-known to the soldiers at the checkpoint, being the sole vehicle for patient transport from Barta'a town. Despite this familiarity, the IOF soldiers stationed at the checkpoint severely beat the driver. Following the incident, the patient was transferred to a hospital in the 1948 territories for further medical attention.

The municipality highlighted an alarming increase in attacks on citizens by IOF soldiers in recent months. These incidents involve soldiers deliberately assaulting, insulting, and detaining individuals as they attempt to pass through the checkpoint. This pattern of behavior has raised significant concern among the residents of Barta'a town.

The Dotan checkpoint serves as the only outlet for Barta'a's 8,000 residents to reach Jenin and other parts of the West Bank. The frequent incidents at this checkpoint have intensified the challenges faced by the local population, underscoring the need for urgent attention and intervention to ensure the safety and rights of those relying on this critical passage.
