Israeli Court Issues Lenient Sentence Against Soldier Convicted of Torturing Palestinian Detainees


Tel Aviv: The Israeli occupation army has confirmed the conviction of one of its soldiers for engaging in severe acts of abuse and torture against Palestinian detainees. These acts took place while he was serving as a guard at the Sedya Teiman military base.



According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, despite the conviction, an Israeli court has handed down a lenient sentence to the soldier, imprisoning him for no more than seven months.



Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention facilities often face practices that are described as inhumane, contradicting various international norms and conventions. The case has drawn attention to the treatment of detainees and the judicial responses to such actions.
