Ramallah: Israeli colonists on Wednesday evening torched a large tract of land belonging to the villagers of al-Mughayyir, east of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to local sources. They reported that colonists set fire to a large tract of wheat-cultivated land in the al-Rafid Plain in the village after the villagers successfully extinguished an earlier arson fire by Israeli colonists.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, colonists' violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. The range of such violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law. The ongoing situation continues to exacerbate tensions in the region, with local communities frequently facing challenges related to safety and security.
