Israeli Colonists Cut Down Dozens of Olive Trees Near Mekhmas

Mekhmas: Israeli colonists cut down around 40 olive trees overnight in the town of Mekhmas, north of occupied Jerusalem, according to local sources. Witnesses reported that a group of Israeli colonists stormed the Khallat al-Sidra area and deliberately destroyed the trees, adding to the escalating assaults targeting Palestinian farmers and their land.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the attack is part of a series of incidents involving Israeli colonists, who have recently established a colonial outpost near Mekhmas. This outpost is reportedly being used as a gathering point and planning site for repeated attacks on Palestinian property.

Olive trees hold significant economic and cultural value for Palestinian families, serving as a crucial source of income and a symbol of their livelihood. In recent years, attacks by Israeli colonists on agricultural land, including the uprooting and burning of trees, have been on the rise. These incidents often occur near colonial outposts and frequently happen under the protection or with the acquiescence of Israeli forces.
