Israeli Colonists Attack Palestinian Olive Pickers in Ramallah

Ramallah: Israeli colonists attacked olive pickers in the town of Turmus Ayya, north of Ramallah, forcing them to leave the area and causing damage to a farmer's vehicle by hurling stones, according to local sources.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, two civilians and a foreign activist were injured two days earlier in the same town, sustaining bruises and wounds from similar attacks by colonists. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has documented 71 attacks by colonists in the West Bank between October 7 and 13, with half related to the ongoing olive harvest season.

The annual olive harvest season sees frequent attacks on Palestinian lands by colonists and the occupation army. These actions prevent farmers from accessing their lands, causing significant material losses and increasing their hardships under occupation. Since October 7, 2023, settlers have launched a total of 7,154 attacks against Palestinians and their property, resulting in 33 fatalities in the West Bank.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reports that these attacks have led to the uprooting, destruction, and damage of 48,728 trees, including 37,237 olive trees, highlighting the severe impact on Palestinian agriculture and livelihoods.
