Jerusalem: Israeli colonists assaulted guards and employees at a solid waste disposal site in the town of Beit Anan, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, on Sunday, injuring several and seizing work equipment, according to local sources.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, witnesses reported that a group of colonists attacked the workers while they were on duty, causing serious injuries and fractures to some. The attackers also fired directly at a garbage collection vehicle and its crew, although no injuries from the gunfire were reported.
During the assault, the colonists forcibly took an excavator used for waste management and a motorcycle belonging to one of the guards. The Governorate of Jerusalem condemned the attack, describing it as part of a broader campaign of settler violence aimed at increasing control over Palestinian land.
The governorate further noted that the colonists recently established an outpost between the villages of Beit Anan and Al-Tira, where they have constructed a cow farm. This development is believed to be part of a larger plan to expand settler influence over the area.
The governorate held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the incident, calling it a "heinous crime" and urged the international community, along with human rights and humanitarian organizations, to intervene and halt the ongoing settler attacks against Palestinians.
