Israeli Colonists Assault Palestinians in Al-Matwai Valley

Salfit: Israeli colonists Monday evening assaulted Palestinians in the al-Matwai Valley, west of the occupied West Bank city of Salfit, according to local sources. They reported that colonists attacked Palestinian-registered vehicles passing through the area, resulting in damage to several vehicles. Additionally, a civilian was beaten and had pepper spray discharged in his face by the assailants.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the al-Matwai area is a significant location that connects Salfit to the western cluster of villages and has been frequently targeted by Israeli colonists. These assaults include discharging wastewater from the Ariel colony, chasing Palestinian farmers and shepherds, and restricting their access to farmland and pastures.

Colonists' violence against Palestinians and their property is a common occurrence in the West Bank, with such incidents rarely being prosecuted by Israeli authorities. The acts of violence often involve property and mosque arson, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes.

Over 700,000 Israeli colonists reside in colonies across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which is considered a violation of international law.
