Hebron: Israeli colonists on Friday assaulted Palestinian farmers in Tal Ma'in, east of Yatta city, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to local sources. Local anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamreh reported that colonists broke into the Palestinian community, chasing and cursing shepherds and farmers, and preventing them from ploughing their lands.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the assailants, originating from the colonial outposts of Mitzpe Yair and Avigayil, attempted to run over several children who were playing near a Palestinian's dwelling in Masafer Yatta. This area, located in Area C of the West Bank, is under full Israeli administrative and military control and has experienced repeated Israeli violations by settlers and soldiers targeting livestock, the main source of living for the community.
The region has been designated a closed Israeli military zone for training since the 1980s and is referred to as Firing Zone 918. Violations in the area include the demolition of animal barns, homes, and residential structures. Furthermore, the issuance of construction permits for local Palestinians by Israel is nonexistent.
