Gaza: Israeli bulldozers on Sunday initiated the construction of a new colonial road near the town of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah, while continuing the development of another road to the west of the city, local sources reported.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the construction in Deir Jarir involves clearing land to create a road intended to connect the Israeli settlement of Ofra with the main regional thoroughfare. This development underscores ongoing infrastructure projects that impact the landscape and accessibility of the area.
Simultaneously, west of Ramallah, efforts continue on a colonial road between the towns of Beit Ur al-Fawqa and Deir Ibzi'. Ali Faisal, head of Beit Ur al-Fawqa municipality, explained to WAFA that the newly constructed road is designed to service the colonial settlement of Beit Horon.
Local sources have indicated that the road disrupts the primary access route connecting eight Palestinian towns: Beit Sira, Beit Nuba, Beit Liqya, Kharbatha al-Misbah, Saffa, al-Tira, Beit Ur al-Fawqa, and Beit Ur al-Tahta. Upon completion, the town of Beit Ur al-Fawqa will find itself encircled on all sides by the settlement of Beit Horon to the east, Highway 443 to the south, and a military checkpoint to the west and north.
