Israeli Authorities Release 10 Detainees from Gaza, Including Paramedic Asaad al-Nasasra

Gaza: Israeli occupation authorities released on Tuesday ten detainees from the Gaza Strip, including a paramedic. The individuals were freed from Israeli prisons and transferred to the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah via the Kissufim checkpoint.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the release included paramedic Asaad al-Nasasra, who had been detained on March 23, 2025. Al-Nasasra was apprehended while performing his humanitarian duties during a massacre of medical teams in the Tel Sultan area of Rafah, where eight members of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) ambulance staff were killed. The PRCS confirmed his release in a brief statement.

The release follows the liberation of 11 other detainees from the Gaza Strip by Israeli authorities just a day earlier.

A recent report by the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) highlighted the harsh conditions faced by Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails. The report, based on testimonies from detainees, indicated that the prison system employs various methods aimed at stripping detainees of their humanity and breaking them psychologically.

Furthermore, the report noted that despite 19 months since the ongoing genocide, the conditions of detention have not improved and, in some instances, have deteriorated. The continued cruelty has made time a critical factor in the fate of detainees. As of early April 2025, the number of detainees from Gaza acknowledged by the Israeli prison system was recorded at 1,747, excluding those held in military camps.
