Israeli Authorities Escalate Repressive Policies Against Palestinian Women in Damon Prison

Ramallah: Israeli authorities have intensified their punitive measures against Palestinian women imprisoned in Damon Prison, mirroring the harsh detention practices used on male prisoners. These measures include arbitrary arrests, brutal interrogations, and the lack of fair legal guarantees, contributing to the severe conditions faced by the detainees.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) has highlighted the dire conditions faced by female prisoners in Damon. The detainees endure frequent and degrading searches, collective punishments, restrictions on family visits, and deprivation of basic necessities. Among the most troubling issues is the deliberate medical neglect, with delays in treatment and denial of necessary medical examinations worsening their physical and mental health.

The report further reveals that these abuses are exacerbated by the use of solitary confinement and ongoing psychological pressure aimed at breaking the prisoners' spirits. Currently, approximately 50 Palestinian women are held in Israeli prisons, according to a recent report by prisoners' rights organizations.
