Kabul: Israeli authorities demolished three homes in the village of Kabul in the Galilee region early Tuesday, citing construction without permits. Local sources reported that Israeli bulldozers and engineering vehicles, accompanied by large numbers of police officers and Border Police personnel, entered the village to carry out the demolitions.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the demolitions occurred just months after a commercial store in the village was demolished in February for unlicensed construction. This action is part of a policy regularly implemented in Arab communities within Israel's 1948 boundaries.
Home demolitions are a significant issue for Arab citizens in Israel, who face a planning and housing crisis marked by limited building zones and delays in approving master plans. These restrictions severely limit urban expansion and make obtaining building permits challenging.
Urban planning experts and local authorities note that demolition policies are coupled with planning restrictions that constrain the natural growth of Arab towns. This situation forces many residents to build to meet housing needs, leading to demolition orders and legal proceedings.
