Jerusalem: Israeli occupation authorities on Sunday forced a Jerusalem resident to demolish his own home in the town of Beit Safafa, southeast of occupied Jerusalem.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Jerusalem Governorate released a brief statement indicating that Israeli authorities compelled a Jerusalemite resident to self-demolish his home in Beit Safafa. This incident is part of a broader pattern where Palestinians in East Jerusalem are pressured to tear down their homes after receiving demolition orders. This is often done to avoid incurring high costs charged by the Israeli municipality if it conducts the demolition.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli forces also demolished commercial facilities near the Shuafat refugee camp, located north of occupied Jerusalem. The demolitions included a vehicle parking area and a car showroom near the Shuafat camp roundabout. These actions have intensified the challenges faced by Palestinians in East Jerusalem, as they navigate the legal and financial repercussions of demolition orders.
