Gaza City: Israeli artillery on Monday evening killed a Palestinian and injured others in the Ad-Daraj neighborhood, east of Gaza City. The attack targeted an education facility near Az-Zahraa School, which was sheltering displaced people, resulting in the death of a female and injuries to several others.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Israeli forces also bombed an apartment opposite the Ajjur bakery, leading to multiple casualties. The artillery strikes were concentrated in the eastern areas of Gaza City. The hostilities resumed after Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement, escalating the situation with airstrikes across the Strip on March 18, which have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians, including over 100 children.
The current death toll has reached at least 2,749, with 7,607 others wounded, as reported by medical sources. Emergency teams are working to recover individuals still buried under debris. In the last 24 hours alone, 33 deceased Palestinians, including four retrieved from rubble, and 94 injured individuals were admitted to hospitals in Gaza.
The renewed aggression has raised concerns over the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Strip, exacerbated by the ongoing siege and restrictions on medical and humanitarian aid. Since the beginning of the military offensive in October 2023, 52,862 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, with 119,648 others injured.
Additionally, over 10,000 people remain missing, believed to be trapped under the ruins of their homes. The violence has also led to the displacement of nearly two million people throughout the Gaza Strip, with many forced into Rafah near the Egyptian border, marking the largest mass displacement of Palestinians since the 1948 Nakba.
