Israeli Army’s Actions in Gaza Deemed Collective War Crimes by Local Newspaper

Tel Aviv: The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz has reported that the actions of the Israeli occupation army in the Gaza Strip amount to a collective war crime. In an editorial, the newspaper accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich of openly committing and planning further offenses, including the destruction and occupation of Gaza along with orchestrating a mass exodus.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the editorial emphasized that the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Gaza is viewed by the Israeli leadership as merely a public diplomacy issue. Haaretz asserted that the reality is far graver, describing Israel's actions in Gaza as a collective war crime, tarnishing the nation's moral standing.

Haaretz called for the immediate allowance of significant humanitarian aid into the region to prevent mass starvation and urged for a ceasefire agreement to end the conflict and ensure the return of all hostages. The publication criticized the ongoing blockade and systematic starvation tactics imposed on the approximately 2.4 million residents of the Gaza Strip, which have been exacerbated by closed aid crossings since March 2nd.

In recent developments, the occupation forces have intensified their operations with a declared ground invasion targeting both the northern and southern areas of the Gaza Strip. This offensive, which began on October 7th, 2023, has resulted in the deaths of 53,486 individuals, predominantly children and women, and left 121,398 injured. Many victims remain trapped under rubble or stranded in inaccessible locations, complicating rescue efforts.
