Gaza city: At least 12 Palestinians were killed and dozens more wounded after Israeli warplanes bombed a crowded market in central Gaza City, according to medical sources. The attack took place on Sunday evening, targeting a popular marketplace near Ramzon al-Samer in the Al-Daraj neighborhood, a densely populated area of the city.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, among the deceased was Dr. Ahmad Qandil, a consultant general surgeon at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital. This tragic incident adds to the escalating toll of casualties in the region. The latest airstrike has increased the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks across the enclave since the early hours of the day to 50.
The ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, which have persisted since October 2023, have resulted in at least 57,882 documented Palestinian fatalities. Over 138,095 individuals have sustained injuries. Thousands of victims are reportedly trapped under rubble and remain inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to continuous Israeli attacks.
Despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation, Israel's attacks continue without abatement.
