Jenin: Israeli aggression continues for the 119th day in a row as the Israeli occupation forces persist in their operations against the city of Jenin and its camp. The ongoing campaign has involved extensive bulldozing and destruction activities aimed at altering the camp's features and structure. Access to the area remains restricted, with entry and exit being severely limited.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Israeli forces conducted another raid last night in the eastern neighborhood of Jenin, resulting in the arrest of a young man from his home amidst the presence of drones. The forces positioned themselves near key locations such as the Khalid bin al-Walid Mosque and the al-Saadi Diwan, deploying military vehicles throughout the city's streets and markets. A separate raid occurred in the al-Jabariyat neighborhood, close to the Jenin camp.
The camp remains under constant threat, with live ammunition being fired despite the evacuation of residents over four months ago. Images emerging from the camp depict significant destruction to homes, property, and infrastructure. The town of Ya'bad, south of Jenin, also faced incursions last night, with infantry units being deployed in its streets.
Jenin Governorate's villages experience daily military incursions and the persistent presence of occupation patrols and vehicles. The closure of Jenin Camp continues, with ongoing bulldozing operations intended to reshape its structure.
Jenin Municipality estimates that around 600 homes in the camp have been completely destroyed, with others partially damaged and uninhabitable. The city itself suffers from significant damage, particularly in the eastern and Al-Hadaf neighborhoods. The displaced population from the camp and surrounding areas exceeds 22,000, as families remain unable to return.
The economic situation in Jenin is deteriorating, with commercial activities severely affected by the conflict. The aggression has led to shop closures, reduced shopping activity, and extensive infrastructure damage, particularly in the western neighborhoods, leading to near-total economic paralysis.
Since the conflict began on January 21, 2020, 40 citizens have been killed, with numerous others injured or detained.
