Israel to Demolish Multiple Palestinian Houses in Silwan Neighborhood

Jerusalem: Israeli occupation authorities notified residents on Thursday of their intention to demolish multiple Palestinian homes in the Silwan neighborhood, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. The Jerusalem Governorate reported that Israeli municipal crews entered the Ras al-Amud area of the neighborhood, placing demolition orders inside the homes targeted for demolition.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the move has raised concerns among residents and local authorities about the potential displacement of families living in the affected homes. The Silwan neighborhood has been a focal point of tensions due to its proximity to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and ongoing disputes over land and housing rights.

The planned demolitions are part of a broader pattern of actions by Israeli authorities in East Jerusalem, which have been criticized by Palestinian leaders and international observers. They argue that such measures exacerbate tensions and undermine efforts toward achieving a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
